The Aha! Experience and the Joy of Teaching
2010 Teacher of the Year Lecture

I am greatly honored (and not a little astonished) to have been selected the Southern Polytechnic State University 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year. The thing that has given me the most pleasure from teaching is watching students have that moment of insight, the Aha! experience, when a collection of facts suddenly fits together into a cohesive concept, and so I chose that as the theme for the 2010 Teacher of the Year lecture.
